THE MOTHERHOOD SEASONS
YOU’LL WANT TO REMEMBER
When I became a māmā myself, it was like my eyes opened to the emotion, mental balancing and physical labour that goes into motherhood. Along with all the nurturing and love, I felt a shift in how I wanted to move through life for myself and my career and for my daughters.
Photography had been a part of my life for a long time and I took great pleasure in capturing all the I Do’s, first looks and first dances for couples across Aotearoa. But in becoming a māmā, I was pulled to preserve my own motherhood story and my daughter’s childhood, even more.
Taking pictures for families had a deeper meaning and created a sense of joy, pride and fulfilment I’d never experienced. After all, as mothers:
We all want time and slowness to adore our children.
We want opportunities to be with our children in the moment, rather than always being behind the camera.
And we want photos to represent how dearly we hold onto each passing season.
Aside from this tender, perfectly imperfect and emotional journey we call motherhood, creating little timestamps of joy and connection through photography for māmā’s, will always be one of my greatest accomplishments.
And māmā, I hope to share in that journey with you soon.
